@DarckCrystale IMO social media is a drug. responsible use is fine, and ideally i would figure out a way to do that

but i have an addictive personality (#adhd and chronic low-level boredom), and it's very difficult for me to use social media responsibly

often, as was the case with reddit, quitting entirely is the only realistic option

that said, i really love the fediverse, so i don't have any serious plans to quit yet. besides i'd just replace it with another dopamine source

@cosine maybe you could try to go away from it for few days each month to regulate your consumption :) and get full of dopamine each time you go back ^^

@elomatreb ily2! i mentioned in a few other posts, i don't have any serious imminent plans to quit. it's just.... ugh, responsible use is Hard

@UberGeek hmm, idk, i see social media as a dopamine source and a way to fill the loneliness rather than for ~actual interaction~ or exchange of ideas whatever.... so idk if a tilde server would really fit what i use social media for

at this point it's just like. whatever, my brain has set me up to be addicted to everything i touch and tbh i'm ok with that. like, w/ever, "happiness" is a lie there are only chemicals, and i know what makes me feel good

at least some of what makes me feel good happens to line up with what society considers "productive" so i'll survive

i just pray to god i won't ever run into a more destructive drug b/c i know it'd destroy my life
