Branding yourself is really toxic, creating a “version” of yourself to sell people is capitalist nonsense and terrible for your mental health and your own self image
Don’t look up to people who game the capitalist system and lie to vulnerable children to buy their products and commodify themselves and their own children to become millionaires
Also the kardashians basically invented the Instagram mindset that’s made thousands of teenage girls have body issues and depression
Poverty in urban areas populated by people of colour is always framed as an issue because of the "criminality" and "violence" there, rather than the nightmarish living conditions their inhabitants have been forced to endure. White middle class people can only conceive of poverty as a problem when it is an inconvenience to them.
“The phrase ‘robots are taking our jobs’ gives technology agency it doesn’t (yet?) possess, whereas ‘capitalists are making targeted investments in robots designed to weaken and replace human workers so they can get even richer’ is less catchy but more accurate.” This is a good read.
