My favorite fact about Elon Musk, which I learned from a talk given by one of the Tesla founders:
Elon Musk was not there when they founded Tesla. He made an investment in Tesla later on, and one of the things he wanted in return for his investment was to get the title "Founder of Tesla". He literally bought the title.
@frickhaditcoming once again, I'm not in the "evil Musk" argument. I said that Musk made Tesla into an industry-transforming company.
btw "bursting into flames" is a common FUD tactic, don't use it. Teslas sure did burn, but nowhere near as often as any gasoline brand. If you want to criticize Tesla, use something else. Like questionable stats on autopilot safety improvement.
Industry transforming as in mass workers rights abuse? You keep saying it but never explaining.
@frickhaditcoming I said in the beginning: because of Tesla other manufacturers (Daimler, BMW, VW, GM) are finally seem to doing an earnest attempt at electric vehicles. Before Tesla it was common knowledge that it can't be done with profit.
It's you who keeps bringing up workers abuse, but it doesn't have anything to do with what I'm talking about, so I keep ignoring it.
Oh like you are ignoring toyota, but only because it prove you wrong. So if firing someone for smoking weed when you do it on a recorded pod cast, how are the innovative? By losing record amounts of money at a record pace?
just ignore the haters. I see your argument. I also see theirs about workers abuse and stuff. True, false, whatever, but it doesn't invalidate the fact that the guy is making a lot of publicity around EVs and solar power and other such things.
@isagalaev @frickhaditcoming this thread is such a classic Internet example of “I’ve found multiple negative points on a person; therefore, there cannot possible be positives on that person because that would make them nuanced”. Elon doesn’t need us defending him, but it doesn’t follow that he hasn’t helped push EVs forward.
Anticapitalist Mastodon instance. Party means fun, not political party. But we're still political.
