hey mastofriends, i need to find an introduction to programming concepts for absolute beginners, because I'm struggling to understand various concepts that the "beginner" guide I'm reading seem to think I already understand (stuff like like: for loops, objects, strings, arrays, variables)

anyone know of any book, website, youtube video, anything that can teach me these concepts that were apparently too basic to be in a beginner guide to a language i want to learn?

I want a logo and I'm not afraid to pay for one. I certainly can't draw one of my own, and creative commons seems to have failed on this subject. I've got an image in my head, but I'm not up to making it appear except in words at present. Happy to talk more here or in the issue

It's not just about letting peoole opt in to what you're talking about, it also lets people scroll their timelines faster to get to the kinda shit they wanna read.

You're not braver, stronger, cooler, or more resilient for not using CWs, and if you react poorly to people asking you to share space in a halfways decent way, maybe I think you're a jerk?

Like, everyone should be able to browse their local and federated timelines. So use CWs.

CWs are super great to encourage political action because:

- you can mention where it's happening, so you don't have to read it if you can't do anything about it, (or forward it on in case others might be able to act on it)

- you can say 'hey, here's something that you can do about it' and people can think 'oh wow, that's great, I'll take a look at this when I'm up for it'

(ie. giving context and action statements prevents apathy and makes political action messages focused instead of chaotic)
