Also if you need an example look at the white rose, brave but dead and they accomplished nothing. Leaflets against hitler doesnt work.

This is invaluable information; thank you. It's far too easy for me personally to slip into violence mindsets because it /feels/ like fighting, when it is far more important to concentrate on winning.

@feonixrift @pertho that feels like an important insight. I think it's similar to competition between likeminded groups - it focuses on how we *feel* about our activism, instead of what it *achieves*.

Is the focus on teaching violent resistance and wars a product of the patriarchy, because those forms of struggle align more closely with "masculine" expressions of confrontation (i.e.: avoiding empathy and channelling agression to silence dissent)?

My (uneducated in this matter) take is that it's a product of statist thought. Wars are what states wage, violence is state power. So people who see politics in terms of states (need a new leader, etc.) will gravitate to state-like means. That the largest power people have is an entirely different kind, would require waging something other than war.

@kitdarko @feonixrift I had always considered violence as the tool of the state. If you want to truly win people over, nonviolence is the key. Sadly there's too much conditioning that goes on (might makes right, etc) that must be overcome first.

If we can show a better way that doesn't use violence, I think we can win. Nonviolent activity is very inclusive!

It seems like it's a tool of last resort, to be used only when not doing so would potentially endanger your or other lives more.

So… use it in self-defense, when all other options are exhausted
