How can instance owners protect themselves from people uploading illegal content? what can they do if a user does post illegal content?

@Rineroth And what about harassment? Sure, maybe you can ban an account on server, but then they can just go to another one. And what if the AltRight /NeoNazis/General Assholes want to create their own server just to harass users across the entire federated network?
@rene there has to be a way to ban entire servers from your timeline but they can just as easily make a new one...
I see this turning into a new chan pretty soon :(
