If you're gonna go out, dress like a worker, not a soldier. Boots with arch support and double-fronted pants make you feel like you're wearing armor because you basically are. "Tactical" boots are lightweight on purpose. Wearing work boots as often as you can might help you marginally improve stamina and leg strength.

Going about your normal day in weighted clothing might be a good idea anyway.

You ARE NOT going to be prepared for everything. Like even if you have all the tools and all the training you need, you're not bullet proof, you can still drown, people can still steal your shit. So I kinda have this idea that the thing that's most important is to be able to roll with the punches.

"Preppers" don't put toothbrushes in their "bug-out bags". Don't be a prepper. Be a person.

There's not much armor that can stop a 5.56 round from an AR-15. The cheapest I can find (which you may not want to go cheap when it comes to body armor) is a $100 plate. And you still need a plate carrier to put it in.

If your plywood shields are chipping and fraying, try wrapping the edges in duct tape. If you have time and whatnot, Try fibreglass + epoxy. Or try carbon fiber.

The goal of encryption and other security measures is not to make surveillance impossible, but to make surveillance *expensive*.

The more stuff you encrypt/obfuscate, the less value you have as a target for surveillance. This is why everyone, not just journalists and activists, should use encryption.

Learn a skill. Like, literally any kind of skill. I sincerely believe that all skills are useful in the fight against fascism, because the fight against fascism is the fight for life.

Whatever it is, cooking (even if it's just one meal), gardening, sewing/mending, woodworking, roofing, soldering. Fuckit. Learn fuckin' *anything* and once you learn that, learn something else. Keep moving.

And I don't mean to include only manual skills either. Research is fuckin' huge. Learn art and music too.

Mini bolt cutters like the ones made by Knipex would be good for cutting through chain link fence, like if you need to leave an area and can't bother looking for a way around or can't jump over. They're about 9in (23cm) long, so pm the same size as a normal set of pliers.

You can also use Lineman's/Electrician's Pliers for this. They'll probably be cheaper, but you still wanna get good ones.

Some caveats to that:

Mini bolt cutters WILL NOT open a padlock. For that you will need large, classic style bolt cutters. (+) they are significantly cheaper than the Knipex mini bolt cutters. (-) They will require a lot of leverage and/or upper body strength to actually cut a lock open, AND you can't exactly keep them in a backpack daily.

Electrician's pliers will be harder to use than Knipex

Another caveat to that:

Avoiding state violence is a tactic.

Surviving is a tactic.

Living to fight another day is a tactic.

You are more useful to the revolution outside of prison than inside.

Always remember this.

@teslas_moustache Lock picks are easier to conceal and as long as it’s a keyed lock it shouldn’t be too hard. If not a shim will take care of a lot of other ones.

@curufuin yes! I wanna learn to pick locks. Thanks for mentioning this.

Also, I think that getting a car lockout kit would be very useful for community support.
