Atari joysticks hurt my hands and since I had have a broken cheap Atari joystick clone, I decided to use the cable to turn an NES controller into an #atari compatible controller. It works great and is so much more comfortable to play games with. I think it was an Adrian's Digital Basement YouTube video that inspired me.

Yeah, that's a good addition. I might do that if I find myself playing platformers on the C64 and missing it.

@thezerobit You can also wire in the extra button in parallel with UP and then it functions as a jump button in up-to-jump platformer games.
