Hey francophones, what nb pronouns are used there? I have a friend studying romance languages who's interested
@Akatookey
I use « iel »
I have someone using « ol »
@Akatookey A friend uses "iel", though my understanding is that that's not widely recognized the way that "they" is in English.
@Akatookey I use "iel" but a very, very small minority of francophone know what to do with that. french has no idea what to do with gender neutrality
@Akatookey I have the same question for español.
@gcupc @Akatookey spanish neutral pronouns are a fuck, because some british asshole came here and said, hey, you should use "elle", this impronounceable pronoun will surely make it easy for everyone to understand how serious you are
@Akatookey @Efi so do people use "elle", or is it just considered weird/problematic?
@gcupc @Akatookey some people use it, but most people just think it's stupid and then there's people like me who want to use it, but think it's dumb and impronounceable and I want to make something better, but it's not possible 'cause somehow "elle" got traction
@Akatookey I've seen el.
(feel free to rt that question thanks! <3)
